Broke both ankles and Dr. Van Der Merwe did a great job of putting me back together. Was very considerate of keeping my ankle tattoo intact and his staff did a great job on keeping me sedated and pain free. Absolutely no signs of infection even after 6 weeks in a cast! Would recommend Dr. Van Der Merwe to anyone needed surgery! Did not give full marks to the staff as their was some confusion after surgery with the staff trying to send me home with my family, even though I was to be transferred to Mills Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Van Der Merwe was a amazing comfort in helping our 5 year old daughter when she dislocated her elbow and fractured her ulna, he was able to put her at ease and helped us to understand what needed to be done and we fully trusted him and his team to put her back together :)

dr van der merwe performed hip surgery on me when i was 16 i am 24 now. i play sports have a small family and i feel great had i not gone to get surgery i would walk funny and live in pain i would recomend this dr cause he knows how to proporly care for patients

Without a doubt the best Orthopedic surgeon there is. He has a caring and understanding of infection that astounds me.

Simply, a genius in his field. I would recommend him to anyone with a hip or knee problem. I'm glad he was available near where I live so I din't have to go to Vancouver where their success rate is much lower than this doctor.
