Dr Irvine has been my General Practioner for 6 years. When it comes to meeting a new doctor like a specialist it's hard for me to trust easily as I have been abused as a kid/teenager by my father including sexual abuse. I trust Dr Irvine 100% with everything in my life. I went Dr shopping the first year and a half living in Nanaimo trying to find a GP I can trust that is male. He is an excellent listener giving advise after all is heard (I go to him with emotional problems too and he is also a good listener and advise giver -his advise is not only medical but I can tell he draws from experience). I have had many surgeries where I had to go on opiate narcotic pain killers each time I had a course of pain medicine he knows when to pull the plug on opiates. I suffered septic arthritis from April to July and hospitalized for 6 weeks and I was on a heavy duty amount of Hydromorphone. The hospital released me back ino Dr Irvines care without tapering down the dose and unfairly left that up to Dr Irvine to see through my withdrawal. He was very supportive and got me off those opiates with minimal discomfort. I broke my leg and he also made sure I wouldn't become addicted. I just had surgery 2 weeks ago and again Dr Irvine knew when to discontinue the opiates with barely any discomfort. I really really thank him for his expertise at the proper use of an opiate drug, many doctors don't unfortunately. I can come to Dr Irvine with any medical problem including a birth defect rendering me half impotent most of my life. He is easy to talk to about the subject and again is a good listener. My recent surgery was an implant and he has been so supportive through this whole process. Whenever I get sick he is very good at treating illnesses with and it always makes me feel better just seeing him and doing exactly what he says. With Dr Irvine you can expect a great doctor patient relationship! He's a dedicated psyician and feel very fortunate to have him as my GP
